Placed fourth behind Petra Vlhova after the first run Grenier produced fireworks on the second leg to follow up her maiden win on the circuit at the same Slovenian resort one year ago.

As the rain fell the 27-year-old took the honours with a combined time of 1min 50.51sec to beat Switzerland's Lara-Gut Behrami by 0.37s.

Italy's Federica Brignone completed the podium at .51s.

Vlhova had to settle for fourth while US ski star Mikaela Shiffrin struggled and finished only ninth for her worst result in the discipline since November 2022.

Shiffrin still holds a commanding lead in her quest for a sixth overall title on 929 points, with Brignone her closest pursuer on 697.

Grenier and company return on Sunday for a slalom.
